More Than We Can Ask or Imagine

The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.

Matthew 13:33NLT

Recently, as I read this parable, I was deeply encouraged!  I was reminded how different things are in the Kingdom of Heaven than they are in this world.  The world trusts in the power of the sword while the Kingdom of Heaven trusts in the power of the cross.  In the Kingdom of Heaven the first shall be last and the last shall be first.  The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.  And the parable of the yeast reminds us things which seem insignificant in this world – small acts of kindness and ministries carried out in love that appear to reach only a few – have greater effects than we can see at this time.  Mother Teresa once said, “Don’t look for big things…just do small things with great love.  The smaller the thing, the greater must be our love.”

Prayer: God of Mystery, thank You that the Kingdom of Heaven has broken into the world.  Thank you for the way You have revealed it through your Son, through your Word, and sometimes even in my life experiences.  Use me to work the yeast of love in the small things knowing it will grow beyond anything I could ask or imagine.  How wonderful it will be!

In Jesus name,

Amen
