A Season of Thankfulness & Praise

Isaiah 41: 10 (New International Version)

Sing to the Lord a new song,

his praise from the ends of the earth,

you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,

you islands, and all who live in them.”

We take time during the holiday season to be with our families, to celebrate our love and gratitude for each other, and to renew our faith.  This is a time of hope, a time when God answers our promises and prayers.  How can we not ‘sing a new song’ of thanks for all that God has done for us?

And yet, life is not all fun and games, not all wine and roses, not all song and dance.  We will struggle and face hardships this year just as in every year.  We will cry as well as laugh, have quiet times of sadness as well as moments of song and joy.  Knowing this, does that diminish God’s gift to us in any way?

Not at all!  God’s gift for us is not only one of eternal life through Christ, but the knowledge that he is with us through all our moments in life.  He’s with us during the hard times just as he’s with us during the times of joy and celebration.  So let us give thanks to God this holiday season!  Our song of thanks and praise is a song that renews us and celebrates the gifts we have received from God.

Prayer: God, thank you for all you give us.  Thank you for our families, our family of faith, and the redeeming love of your son, Jesus Christ.  Thank you for our time on earth and help us make the most of it, sharing your love for us with others and bringing others to you.  Be with us at all times, during the good and the bad, and lift our voices with a new song of thanks every day.
Amen
