A Parable

“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.”                                                                Psalm 19: 1-3

We know that all of creation proclaims God’s name and displays God’s love for the world and its creatures. But the Bible also tells us that WE are to proclaim God to the world so that all may hear and believe. Romans 10:14. God has given us an amazing opportunity and a daunting responsibility to share the good news of God’s love and grace with others. I love the wisdom in this little parable:

A man cried out: “God let me hear you.” A meadowlark sang, but he didn’t hear it.

“God speak to me” and the thunder rolled across the sky, but he ignored it.

“God let me see you” and a star shone brightly in the heavens, but he didn’t notice it.

“God give me a sign” and a new life was born, but he didn’t know it.

“God put out your hand and touch me” …and God did…but the man brushed away the butterfly and walked away.

God has called each of us to be His child and He calls each of us to tell others the good news of God’s love for them.

Prayer:  God, we hear your voice and see your hand and recognize your face all around us, but many are blind to your love. Give us courage and passion for spreading the wonderful news of your saving grace to others. Remind us that we are your ambassadors in this world.  AMEN.
