“When is this virus going to come to an end? When will things get back to “normal”? Why is it still snowing? When will spring get her? Why is that person driving so slow in the fast lane? What is taking so long???”
Do you struggle with patience? I know that I often do. We are constantly reminded that everything happens in God’s time, but as humans we think we can somehow control our environment. Then, we are sorely saddened and disappointed when things don’t work out the way we think they should. I’m constantly reminding myself to “let go and let God”. I often refer to the following bible passages to help me instill patience. My hope is that you also find comfort in them.
Romans 12:12 – “Be joyful because you have hope. Be patient when trouble comes, and pray at all times.”
Romans 8:24-25 – “We were saved, and we have this hope. If we see what we are waiting for, that is not really hope. People do not hope for something they already have. But, we are hoping for something we do not have yet, and we are waiting for it patiently”.
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”.
Colossians 3:12 – “God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So always do these things: show mercy to others, be kind, humble, gentle, and patient”.
Dear Lord, help me to put things in perspective to see what really matters. Help me to persevere in your love, because you always know what is best for me. Help me to let go and give me the patience to wait on our timing, not mine.
In Jesus’s name – Amen”
