Weekly Devotional by Diana Golden

“What is that which gets the majority of your time, thoughts, love, energy and money? I reflect on this question often. I know every day when we wake up we are given the gift of time and opportunity. Where we spend those two things is all based on the personal convictions we live by and that’s what dictates the outcome of one’s legacy. I truly do believe that if one asks the question above daily they will have a more focused and fulfilled life”.

These words were recently posted on Facebook by a smart, loving and spiritual young man who I met through bicycling friends. Jack Lucido gave me permission to share his words with you. This prompted me to ask myself “what does it mean to have a fulfilled Christian life”?

We often seek fulfillment in earthly things. But true fulfillment comes from the Lord. By continually studying the scriptures, serving others, doing good deeds, practicing gratitude and forgiving ourselves as well as others, we can move closer to finding fulfillment in this life. There are numerous passages in the bible referring to fulfillment. Some of my favorites are: Psalm 57:2 – “I cry out to God most high, to God who fulfills his purpose for me”; Psalm 138:8 – “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever”, and finally Phillippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”.

Prayer: May I approach each new day as an opportunity to serve you. Please guide me to find my purpose in this life – a purpose that brings glory to your name.
Amen.”
