Weekly Devotional by Carolyn Rex

“I found out yesterday that a friend has died. She lost a long battle with an addiction. Though I provided support on occasion, I am struck by how much more I could have done. Not to change the trajectory that deep emotional scars and hurts put into motion, but to reflect God’s love for her in any number of small ways. This well known quote, attributed in its original form to a Quaker missionary, lingers: “I shall pass through this world but once! Any good thing, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now, in His name, and for His sake. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” — Stephen Grellet (1773-1855)
