12.12: “Come, Let Us Adore Him”
Thursday, December 12
“Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, God with us.” Isaiah 7:14*, Matthew 1:23
As we prepare our feasts and as we wrap our gifts, we shall also remind ourselves of theincredible promise that God has fulfilled through the birth of Jesus. Isaiah prophesied that God would send a Savior for all of us, born of a virgin, and to be proclaimed Emmanuel centuries before Jesus’ birth. Revealing His unwavering faithfulness. He didn’t abandon His plan.
Our earthly world is full of uncertainty and despair. We should not rely on human promises as they can be easily forgotten or abandoned. God’s Word is certain, and His promises are timely. Jesus’ birth is the ultimate expression of God’s faithfulness. Emmanuel—God with us—reminds us that God did not leave us to deal with the brokenness of the world alone. He came near, entering into our human experience, bringing hope, peace, and salvation.
We can trust that the same God who kept His promise then will continue to maintain His promises today. Just as God sent Jesus, God will fulfill His promises to you in His own time.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we remember the prophecy of Emmanuel, we are filled with hope knowing that You are faithful. Help us trust in Your Word and Your timing, especially when we are in the season of waiting. Just as You fulfilled Your promise to send Jesus amongst us, we believe You will fulfill every promise You have made. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
