KCC Choral Union Concert to be “A Musical Odyssey”

The Choral Union of Kellogg Community College under the artistic direction of Dr. Gerald Case-Blanchard will present its annual Singing in the Spring concert this year with “A Musical  Odyssey Journey through the Ages: A Pre-Canadian Concert Tour Program.” Admission is free, but a freewill offering will be collected to support the choirs’ summer concert tour of Canada.

The concert will feature classical music in three parts:
“Music for Sacred Spaces” will include works by great classical composers of organ and choral repertoire. Featured works will include Praise the Lord by Florence B. Price, Alleluia by Mozart, Gloria in Excelsis by Haydn,  Gather by the River to Pray arranged by Pepper Choplin, and With A Voice of Singing by Martin Shaw.
“Music for the Heart” selections have the common theme of love. Works will include, Climbing Over Rocky Mountains (from the operetta Pirates of Penzance) by Gilbert and Sullivan, and Home (from the Wiz) by Charlie Smalls.
“Music for the Spirit” segment of the concert program will feature pieces ranging from Madrigals to Spirituals.

The KCC Choral Union consists of members representing the four residential KCC vocal ensembles, including the Branch County Community Chorus, Concentus Vocal Ensemble, Kellogg Singers and the KCC Opera Workshop Ensemble.
