Go the Extra Mile for Some Deserving Kids

First Pres has been involved with Second Mile Center in Detroit for eight years now. The Center was founded by the Presbyterian Women of Detroit in 2006. It is a Christ-centered community program, shining brightly in one of the most challenging areas of Detroit.  They do a lot for inner city kids – providing a place of hope where they are fed and kept safe.

First Pres members will be travelling to the Second Mile Center again this year on June 25th for a Health Fair focused on the kids and their families that attend and participate in the activities at the Center throughout the year.   We will assist with measuring Height, Weight and Blood Pressures and documenting information at the various health screening stations.  We will also help with games, food and other activities.  It is a day of enjoyable work and the feeling of making a difference in the lives of others.
