Children's Ministries

Sunday School

Sunday school classes for infants through elementary school students take place at the 9:15 education hour and include children in nursery care, pre-school, kindergarten and grades 1-5.

Infants and Toddlers
Two well-equipped nursery areas located near the entry on the main level care for infants and toddlers during the 9:15 hour and the 10:45 worship hour.  Our Child Care Coordinator staffs and maintains these nurseries.

Three-Year Olds (Beginners)
Three-year-olds use a lectionary based curriculum during the 9:15 education hour and the "God Loves Me" Bible storybooks at the 10:45 worship hour.  Follow-up play reinforces the lessons each week.  The class is located on the lower level.

PreK-Kindergarten
The class of four and five year olds uses the LIFE curriculum from Faith Alive Christian Resources.  This material is biblically based and written from a Reformed/Presbyterian perspective.  The morning schedule includes worship, a Bible lesson and an activity to enhance understanding of the Bible story.  The class is located on the second level.

Elementary
Children in grades 1-5 take part in D.O.C.K. (Disciples of Christ's Kingdom) which is our Workshop Rotation Program.  The class area consists of several creative, kid-pleasing workshops used to teach Bible stories through art, drama, cooking, computers, games, puppets, music and audiovisuals.  Groups rotate to new workshops each week as they learn God's word in ways that are relevant and exciting for them.

Children and Worship

We believe that community worship is as important for children as it is for adults and that children need to learn what it means to worship as a church family.  They can do that by attending worship services with their families and by taking part in group worship experiences appropriate for their own ages and levels of understanding.  Children from four years to sixth grade are included in the first part of the 10:45 worship service where they hear a special children's message before being dismissed to their own worship programs.
Four and five year old children attend Children and Worship on the second level.
First and second grade children attend Follow Me on the second level.
Grades 3-6  attend Circle of Friends Worship in Fellowship Hall.
These programs allow children to experience the worship of God in ways that are authentic and relevant for them.

During the Months of June-August, child care and educational programs are provided for infants through kindergarten ages.  All other children attend worship with their families during the summer months.

Little Lambs

As part of the Mom's Morning Fellowship small group ministry, we offer the Little Lambs Program. This program operates during the regular school year and is open to the preschool age children of the women who are participating in the Mom's Fellowship. While their mothers enjoy Bible study and fellowship, the children, ages two to five, take part in a play-centered curriculum which lays down a solid foundation on which a relationship with the Lord can grow. Child care is also provided for children under two years of age. Little Lambs and infant care takes place on the church's lower level.
